Zella Christine Shirey

Daleville...Zella Christine Bronnenberg Shirey, 96, Daleville resident, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at Morrison Woods Health Campus. She was born in Madison County on June 23, 1920 to the late John and Neva (Fosnot) Bronnenberg. She was a 1938 graduate of Markleville High School.In previous years, Zella worked at Delco Remy, Johnson Drug Store and was also a homemaker. She had lived in Daleville for 67 years and lived in Middletown prior to moving to Daleville.She attend Daleville Christian Church and Pleasant Valley Church, was member of the Daleville Home Economics Club, 4H Leader, and Middletown Eastern Star.She enjoyed her yard, cooking, reading, and especially spending time with her loving family.Zella will be sadly missed by her two daughters: Rita Dianne Shirey Rottman (Howard) of Ottowa, Canada, Debra Kay Curtis of Anderson, two sisters: Julia Ann Ashlock (Robert) of Lookout Mountain, GA and Nina Bronnenberg Staggs of Markleville, one brother: Jon Lloyd Bronnenberg (Gay) of Markleville, four grandchildren: Shawn Phillips (Lori), Shannon Phillips (Andrea), Gabriel Rottman and Joshua Rottman (Samantha, seven great grandchildren: Jake and Zack Phillips, Jace and Myah Phillips, Ella and Mila Kowalski and Briana Rottman, several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband: Delbert Emanuel Shirey, two sisters: Sarah Lucinda Bronnenberg and Gretchen Stohler and four brothers: Cletus, Paul, Keith and Cecil Bronnenberg.A Celebration of her life will be held on Monday, October 10, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Ballard and Sons Fuenral Home, 8212 South Walnut Street, Daleville with Pastor Marty Ballard officiating.
