Wilma Jean Mcshurley

May 20, 1932 — December 11, 2020

Wilma "Jean" McShurley left this world to go on to her eternal home in heaven and be with her Lord and Savior and eternal family on Friday, December 11th, 2020.  She is survived by her children:  Linda (Brad) Stonoff, Mike (Susi) Greathouse, Marla (Bruce) Stanley, Bob Hawkins and Barb Greathouse-Richardson; and her grandchildren:  Leslie (Nathan) Wilson, Ryan (Stephanie) Stonoff, Eric (Jen) Greathouse, Amy (Roger) Davenport, Jeff (Lynnette) Boone, Adrienne (Keith) Wildman, Rob (Christina) Prewett, Chris Stinett and Brian Hartley.  She was also blessed with 18 great grandchildren!  She was preceded in death by her parents, Millard and Lola Edwards, her husband Mort McShurley and daughter, Terry Hawkins.

Jean graduated from Anderson High School in 1950 and devoted all her adult life caring for her family, serving her church, neighbors, and sharing her love for Jesus to anyone who wanted to listen.

She was well known in her community as Mort McShurley's wife who worked tirelessly in their auction sales for many years.  Her family remembers her well as a loving wife and mother who cherished every moment spent with them and their children.  Without a thought for herself, she generously gave her time, resources, or anything she could to extend her love and support by which she was warmly known.

She loved her flower gardens and making home cooked meals for her family to enjoy. In her spare time, she would visit shut-ins with her sweet smile, warm company, and homemade pies.  She knitted little gifts of practical importance and gave to anyone who might need them. Jean loved singing in the church choir, teaching her grandchildren how to make hollyhock dolls, fresh carrot juice and cinnamon pastries with her left-over dough.  She worked selflessly making sure her family knew they were loved and cared for in every way she could, and never complained if her own needs might have went begging.

Above all her wonderful accomplishments as a loyal and loving wife, selfless and compassionate mother, she was a woman who loved God with all her heart and wanted nothing more than to share that love and joy for her Savior with everyone she could.  She was a great wealth of Godly wisdom and encouragement, and the devotion of her Godly legacy continues to live on in every one of her children and grandchildren.

The family will have a private service on Friday at Mechanicsburg Cemetery. Her body will be laid to rest next to her loving husband Mort.  In honor of Jean's generous heart, the family requests for those who feel inclined, please donate to their favorite charity in Jean McShurley's name, rather than sending flowers.
