Anderson....William Joseph Garrett, 86, resident of Anderson and longtime resident of Chesterfield, passed away June 23, 2020 at St. Vincent's Regional Hospital in Anderson. He was born in Sulphur Springs, Indiana, August 14, 1933, the son of Pliny Barnard and Beulah May Harter Garrett.
He was a 1951 graduate of Sulphur Springs High School and retired from Delco Remy after 34 years in 1986 as a utilityman.
He had moved to Chesterfield in 1959 and was a member of Sulphur Springs Lodge F and AM, the Order of the Eastern Star of Middletown and the Chesterfield Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 45 years, Betty J. Garrett, step children, Brenda Wilhoit, Dan Wilhoit, and Connie Felongo.
He is survived by his children, Ginny (David) Graham of Markle and Teri (Steve) Flowers of Anderson, 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, 1 brother, James (Bonnie) Garrett of Middletown and 1 sister, Nancy (John) Kellum of Straughn, daughter-in-law, Joyce Wilhoit of Anderson, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 2:00 pm at the Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 South 5th, Middletown officiated by the Sulphur Springs Masonic Lodge and Pastor Marty Ballard.
Burial will follow in Miller Cemetery, Middletown.
Friends may call on Monday from noon until the time of the service at the funeral home. CDC Social distancing and hand sanitation will be requested. Masks are to be worn at your discretion.
