William A. Ellis

William A. Ellis, 83 of Anderson passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2025. He was born on March 4,1941 in Reading, Massachusetts, a son to the late Walter and Gertrude (Nuse) Ellis.

He was in the United States Marines and was a retired correctional officer at the Pendleton Penitentiary. He enjoyed fishing, hockey, watching game shows and old westerns. William was a loving husband, brother and father. An exceptional grandpa that loved to drive his grandkids everywhere. He was best friends with Steve Helsley and enjoyed eating breakfast at the Happy Mule in Anderson.

He is survived by his son, Shawn (Brittany) Helsley; brothers, Dickie Ellis and Dubba Ellis; sisters, Debbie and Ruth Ann; grandchildren, Daylyn (Abbey) Helsley, Aidon Jones, Izzy Helsley, Owen Morgan and Rylynn Helsley; great grandchild, Violet Helsley; special friends, Steve Helsley and Ginger White.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Melissa Ellis; brother, Steven Ellis; several siblings; nephew, Scooter Ellis; his dachshund “Pooka”.

At the request of the family, there will be no services at this time. A celebration of life will be held this spring for family and friends. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ballard and Sons Funeral Home in Middletown.
