Lapel...Wayne F. Solomon, 96, resident of Lapel, passed away at Community Northview Care Center in Anderson on Thursday morning, November 8, after an extended illness.He was born in New Castle, Indiana, September 23, 1916, the son of Frank and Margaret Robertson Solomon.He was a 1934 graduate of Wilkinson High School and owned and operated his own Radio and Television Repair Service in New Castle for 12 years before retiring in 1980, from Gordon-Johnson, Inc., where he had been a heavy equipment operator and mechanic.He was a US Army veteran of WW 2, 1st Armored Division, 81st Recon, the oldest member of the Lapel American Legion Post 212, a member of the Operating Engineers Union Local 103, and the Spiceland United Methodist Church.Survivors include his wife of 71 years: Martha (Johnson) of Lapel, son: Stephen Solomon (Kay) of Middletown, 1 brother: David Solomon of Indianapolis, 3 sisters: Madalene Young of Markleville, Susie Adams of Tampa, FL, and Nellie (David) Wright of Orlando, FL, 1 grandson: Brian Solomon of Middletown and 1 great grandaughter: Hannah Solomon.He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 grandson: Kevin, 1 brother: Marvin, and brothers and sisters in laws.Funeral services will be on Friday at Noon at the Spiceland United Methodist Church, North 2nd and Maple Street, Spiceland, IN with Rev. Carol Wiley officiating.Visitation will be at the church one hour before the services on Friday.Burial will follow in Circle Grove Cemetery, Spiceland with full military rites.Online Guestbook at:
