Walter Henry Smith Jr.

Walter Henry Smith Jr., 83 of Alexandria passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2024. He was born on September 1, 1940 to the late Walter H. and Pauline (Vanhook) Smith.

Walter served 2 years in the Army. He loved bowling, golfing, fishing and mushroom hunting. Walter was very handy; he could fix anything. He enjoyed going to auctions, being outside and taking care of his yard and trails in the woods. He always made sure his grass was John Deere green. Walter loved his family.

He is survived by his children, Tim (Chris) Smith, Jerry (Kim) Smith, Tim (Jackie) Prevost and Kathryn (Troy) Davis; many grandchildren; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara Smith; daughter, Penny Kid; son, Danny Smith.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Patty with Southern Care Hospice.

Services will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home in Daleville with Pastor Kevin Holt officiating. Burial to follow in Jones Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of the service.
