Walter “Charlie” Huffman, 86, of Middletown passed away Sunday May 28, 2023, at the Waters of New Castle. He was born in Markleville on May 2, 1937, to the late Glen and Catherine (Bryant) Huffman.
He grew up in Markleville and attended Markleville High School. Charlie served his country in the United States Army. He retired from Delco Remy after 30 years of service. While working at Delco Charlie was also a well-known Plasterer in the area and owned his own business for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and family get togethers.
Charlie is survived by his children, Kimberly (Rocky) Jackson, Carol (Bob) Hamilton, Clark Huffman, Kary (Brian White) Huffman and Kirk Huffman; grandchildren, Christopher (Morgan) Godsey, Brittany Jackson, Hunter Jackson and Rosie (Bryce) Bastin; great grandchildren, Julian Godsey, Alaina Godsey, Jayden Criswell, Blake Criswell and Aurora Jackson; stepchildren, Mike Smith, David Smith and Amy Baker; special friend, Alice Guffey along with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents Charlie is preceded in death by his 1st wife of 27 years, Rosemary (Whitaker) Huffman; 2nd wife, Barbara (Smith) Huffman; grandson, Russell Godsey; siblings, Bryant Huffman, Wyant Huffman, Andy Huffman, Jackie Huffman, J.C. Huffman, Viola Mae Vanderpool, Emma Clark, Bertha Wilkinson and Anna Haygood.
Services will be at 2:00 pm on Friday June 2, 2023, at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home in Middletown with Lance Stevens Officiating. Burial will follow at Miller Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm until the time of service.
