Victoria Rose Gilbert

September 28, 1949 — March 31, 2020

Victoria "Vickie" Gilbert , 70, of Chesterfield, passed away on March 31, 2020 due to a lengthy illness.

Although the pain of her passing will be almost too much to bare, we know that she is overjoyed to be with her daughter, brother,
parents, and other loved ones who have gone before her. Family was everything to Vickie. Love was everything to Vickie. Being a mother and grandmother was everything to Vickie. The unconditional love and affection she showed not only to her husband and children, but to everyone she cared about was genuine and true. She left a lasting impression on so many people, and she didn't even realize it. Because in Vickie's world, everyone heard the words "I love you"  and she meant it every time.

Family was the root of Vickie's life. She spoke to most members of her family every day. She Kept up with cousins, their children, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews-they were all important to her. That's a quality you don't see often in this world, and another reason that she was a shining star in this sometimes dark world.  To know that such a shining light still glowed in her after the pain and heartache she has endured in her life was an amazing thing to witness. Along with the extraordinary wonderful things she had experienced, she had also overcome experiences that most of us would not recover from. Her strength and resilience were amazing.

Vickie was born on September 28, 1949 in Anderson, Indiana  She graduated from Alexandria High School in 1968.  She worked for Ball State University for many years where she made many friends through the years that she cherished.

Shelly Ashby, who greeted her mom in heaven, Michael Ashby of  Daleville, John Gilbert (Lindsay Porter) of Fishers, Misty Gilbert of Daleville.  Vickie is also survived by her pride and joy, Grandson, Tyler Gilbert, and twin granddaughters Reagan and Rylee Gilbert.

In addition to her husband John and children Vickie is also survived by  one sister, Cynthia Jackson (Kevin) of Chesterfield and 1 brother. Michael Ashby (Diane) of Chesterfield sister inlaws/ brother inlaws--   many nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews-  cousins-and  her church family at  the Chesterfield Church of God that she cherished.  There are so many people that will miss her dearly.

In addition to Shelly, Vickie was greeted in heaven by her parents, William and Ruth Ann Poole Ashby
