Middletown...Victor Earl Harry, 85, resident of Middletown, passed away April 4, 2009 at St. Johns Medical Center in Anderson after a brief illness.He was born February 1, 1924 in Greensboro, IN, the son of Faye and Viola Harry.He lived most of his life in Middletown and attended Middletown Schools.He was a local bus driver for several years but was known in the area as a ""premier"" farmer in all aspects of the vocation, farming in Madison and Henry Counties.He was a decorated WW 2 Army veteran and landed on Omaha Beach during the D-Day invasion. He was a 50 year member of the Middletown Masonic Lodge.He was baptised and was a member of the Sixth Street Christian Church of Middletown.He loved spending his Sunday afternoons at Winchester or Eldora Speedways watching Sprint Cars and having coffee with his buddies at their weekly get together. He was admired for his courage, strength, and priceless sense of humor.He is survived by his wife of 13 years: Wanda of Middletown, daughter: Lisa Wray (Brian Wiseman) of Middletown, sons: Kevin (Debbie) Harry and Kim (Renisa) Harry of Middletown, sisters: Barbara Shoemaker and JoAnn Aldred of Middletown, step sons: Rob (Lisa) Holwager of Vermont and Jeff (Kathy) Holwager of Hamilton, IN, six grandchildren: Leslie M. (John) Mirando, Andy Harry, Lauren and Chase Wray, all of Middletown, Caroline (Chris) Archambault of Florida and Amanda (Greg) Simpson of Huntington, step grandchildren: Jason and Christopher Holwager of Vermont and Danielle Holwager of Auburn, IN, 6 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.He was also survived by his feline family: Baxter, Simon and Mo of Middletown and Andy of Florida.He was preceded in death by his first wife of 43 years and mother of his children: Peggy (Emswiller) Harry and his parents, and a brother: James Robert Harry.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 PM at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 South 5th, Middletown with Rev. David Waters officiating.Masonic memorial services will be held at 1:30.Burial will follow at Miller Cemtery, Middletown.Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00 am until the time of the services.Memorials may be made to the Henry County Humane Society through the funeral home.Online Guestbook at:
