Thelma Grace Mills

On Oct.13, 2018, Thelma "GRACE" Luttrull Mills, 84.5 yrs old, was in the presence of her Lord, healed and rejoicing in the happiest reunion she had ever been to. Among that joyous reunion, was her beloved husband of 61 yrs, Paul Mills, her parents, Isaac and Opal (Nelson) Luttrull, her sister and brother in law, Joyce and Herschel Drake, 5 Luttrull brothers; Warren, wife Clarabelle, Harvey, wife Virginia, Leonard, Dorman,and Leslie, her Mills in laws; mother in law, Grace Mills, brother in laws, Charles, wife Jean, Walter, wife Lois, Calvin, wife Marietta, Lawrence, wife Lula, and Harold, and sister in laws, Margaret Snook, husb. Roy, Helen Hazelmeir, husb., Rabbit, Alberta Gee, husb. Charles, Maryellen Thompson, husb. Richard, and their son, Gordon, and mom's bffs, Geneva Lamprey, and Rose Harris. ....and so many more.

She has one surviving brother, Thomas Luttrull and wife, Joyce, of Missouri, and one sister in law, Anne Luttrull, Muncie.

She has many nieces and nephews, cousins, and distant cousins from both the Luttrull and Mills sides that she individually and compassionately loved.

Grace was devoted to family, and cherished the yearly reunions with her extended Luttrull family never missing one for 50 years. And being extremely connected and close to the Mills family that she was so thankful to be a part of by marriage.

She was born a farmer's daughter, the baby, in a large strong hardworking Christian home. She graduated from Daleville High School. Soon afterwards, She met Paul while helping her father bring in a harvest at the Chesterfield Feed Mill, where Paul worked. They were married in 1957.

She raised two daughters that adore her, Patty Lee, husb. Bill, Reelsville, IN and Paula Mills, Indianapolis, IN. And she was blessed with, and so proud of 2 grandsons; Blake, Reelsville, and Mst. Sgt. Josh Hopper, wife Abi, Litchfield Park, AZ and 2 granddaughters; Corinna Earl, husb. Tom, Anderson and Hannah Lee, fiancee, Jeremiah Scott, Greencastle, and 2 great grandson AJ Hopper and Dylan Gilley, and 2 great granddaughters, Ava Hopper and Kaylee Hornung, and 3 grand-doggies, Gretel, Buffy, and Marley.

She made a loving home for 50 yrs in the same house on Sycamore St., in Chesterfield. Her love and charitable heart flowed out to her community and neighbors. Over the years, she opened her tiny, love-filled home with open arms to many in need, allowing them safe and loving shelter and fellowship. Through the years, she was a full time babysitter for many children, that she loved like her own. She lead "Good News" Club Ministries w/neighborhood kids. Besides being a loving and nurturing mother, she was a loving, devoted, and faithful wife, honoring her sacred vows of marriage, and taking precious care of her husband during his failing health. They were one, and their life examples deserving of much honor by their daughters.

So very talented, she quilted, crocheted, knitted, painted, and was a beautiful seamstress, always creating, even beautiful clothing for her daughters, as they grew up. Often admired for her beautiful penmanship, how she taught herself the piano, and played beautifully by ear. Her favorite performances were of all the old hymns she embraced. A Singer, she was gifted the most beautiful alto vocals, and her harmony was angelic. A huge Elvis fan, she made social time to enjoy fellowship within the Scotty Zion Elvis Impersonator Club, and she sewed and created many Elvis crafts for her friends, as well, as even made Elvis Curtains for her kitchen. She said she always wanted to be a clown, which we often laughed silently about, because she didn't have a very natural sense of humor, but determined, she graduated from clown school, designed and created her own outfit, and performed as the clown named "Pansy" (her favorite flower), until her health wouldn't let her. She made many wonderful new "clown" friends, through those years. She enjoyed playing games with friends and family, like Aggravation, Rummy, and Bingo. She took computer classes to keep up with progress. She loved animals, always having either or both shelties or chihuahuas. She loved to travel, drive, and she loved the color "red", and cardinals, and dolls she made clothes for. She had an obsession with directions, and numbers, and a fascinating memory bank for names, dates, phone numbers, etc. Every year she called her sisters, brothers, nephews and nieces, and cousins on their birthday.

Consistent, stable, strong-willed, and very tender hearted, she shared her love for her Lord all her life. She raised her daughters in the Baptist faith, beginning with her Grace Baptist Church Family in Anderson, and more recently, was a member of Elm Grove Christian Church, Anderson. She was a sermon in shoes on faithfulness, always loving and forgiving of others, as her Christ forgave her. Outspoken, sometimes to a fault, but Holy Spirit convicted,she taught us how to be the first to ask for forgiveness, by example. And these life lessons live within the blood of her children and grandchildren, and remain beautiful memories in all the lives she touched.

From her daughters' eyes, in these past few years, as her body failed her, after she couldn't walk, had to leave her home, and lost her beloved husband of many years.... we seen the fruits of the Holy Spirit from our mother, stronger than ever.... love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. His Amazing Grace, God is so faithful, and so, she peacefully and joyfully entered His Kingdom.

We thank the home healthcare nurses in Chesterfield from St. Vincents, Terry Thomas, Shannon Harvey, and Candice Hull who helped us care for mom and dad, while they were still home. They were our precious angels, and mom and dad loved seeing them every week.

And we thank Dr. Craig Johnson and the staff of Cloverleaf Nursing Home, Knightsville, IN, for their care these past few years, during mother's physical battle from vascular dementia, diabetes and congestive heart failure.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sat, Nov. 3, 2018, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Tri County Christian Church of Middletown, IN, with her Pastor, Mike Whiteman. We would love for you to come by, have some snacks with us, and share a memory of how our mother touched your life.

Private Family Graveside Services, will be conducted at a date prior to her celebration at Bronnenberg Cemetery, Chesterfield, next to her beloved husband, Paul. ??
