Steve A. Duke Sr.

Muncie

Steve A. Duke Sr.,74, of Muncie passed away on Thursday, December the 12th, 2024, at Lincolnshire Place Memory Care Center. He was born on August 10th, 1950, in Muncie the son of Thurston W. Duke and Almajean Duke.

 He lived in Muncie and graduated from Southside High school in 1968 and attended Ivy Tech where he earned an associate degree. Steve served his country in the U.S Marines from 1970-1972. After coming home, he returned to work at Borg Warner working his way up to joining the carpenter department from which he retired in 2005 after 37 years.

 Steve was a hardworking man, he enjoyed gardening, woodworking, fishing, tossing horseshoes, playing corn hole and always enjoyed a good laugh with friends. He spent time with his grandchildren taking them swimming and out to watch the latest meteor shower from the backyard. He would tell stories around the fire pit…and if you listened closely, you would hear the famous…”and there is just enough material left in that button …to make this story.”

 Surviving is his son, Steve Duke Jr. (wife Tracy) and daughter Cathy Hansard; grandchildren include, Courtney Duke, Cody Duke, Bailey Thompson (husband Harlan), Abby Sigler (husband Jackson), Curtis Hansard; several great grandchildren and mother Almajean Duke. 

 He was preceded in death by his father, Thurston Duke; step mother, Beverly Duke; two step brothers, Randy and Rick Coats, and step sister Sue Fowler.
