Shirley Ann Owen of Daleville was born May 12, 1941. She lost her battle with cancer August 19, 2016. She graduated from Mt. Summit High School with the class of 1959. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Joseph B. Owen; son Christopher Owen of San Diego, CA, daughter Kimberly Owen of Phoenix, AZ, and son Alex Owen of Lapel, IN with wife Allyson Owen; her grandchildren Lauren and Tyler Balconi, Phoenix, AZ, Skyler Owen, Daleville, IN, and Avery and Maddox Owen, Lapel, IN; and siblings Irene Rehbein (Tempe, AZ), Mary Shaw (Lynchburg, VA), Fannie Beall (New Castle, IN), James Robert Smith (Yorktown, IN), and Ruth Burd (New Castle, IN), as well as many nieces and nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents Casher and Mabel Smith of Mt. Summit, IN and siblings Charles Smith (Middletown, IN), Florence Swann (New Castle, IN), and Flora McCormick (Anderson, IN).A Celebration of her life will be held at 6:00 PM on Saturday at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 8212 South Walnut Street, Daleville with Pastor Glenn Perkins officiating.Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday after 2:00 PM.Cremation will follow.Online Guestbook at: www.ballardandsons.comThe Ballard family is honored to celebrate the life of Shirley Owen with family and friends.
