Middletown...Ruth Harriet Best, 81, resident of Miller's Merry Manor of Middletown, passed away Friday morning at the nursing home after an extended illness.She was born in New Castle, Indiana, November 11, 1921, the daughter of Gurney and Maurine Shepherd Gray. She retired as assistant Auditor of Henry County in 1978.She had worked as a treasurer for New Castle Schools and was a member of the New Castle Business Womens Association. She was a graduate of Miami-Jacob College and attended Grace Baptist Church of Muncie.She and her husband Robert had operated Best Greenhouse in Middletown for many years.Survivors are 2 sons: Rick (JoAnn) Best of Yorktown and Mark (Susan) Best of Brownsburg, 1 daughter Patricia (Alex III) McDonnell of Middletown, 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, a twin sister: Martha Smith of Middletown.Funeral services will be held on Monday at 2:00 PM at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 South 5th, Middletown, IN with Rev.
