Middletown...RoeLendis ""Red"" William Dahl, 87, resident of Middletown, died Saturday at his residence after an extended illness.He was born in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada, January 30, 1915, the son of RoeLendis W. and Desse Lenore Beard Dahl. He was a 1934 graduate of Anderson High School and retired in 1974 from Delco Remy (General Motors) in Anderson after 38 years as a tool and design estimator. He was a member of the Middletown Lodge F and AM #271 and the Order of the Eastern Star, #110 of Middletown. He played softball for the Delco Remy Team and loved to fish and play the ukulele. He loved to squaredance and was a member of the Gem and Rock Society. He had been a member of the Master Mechanics of Delco Remy.He had been preceded in death by his first wife;Gladys LaVone (Young) in 1972 and his 2nd wife: Pearl Weston in 2001.Survivors include 2 daughters: JeNeane (Ernest) Dahl of Tukwila, WA and Lenore Ritchie of Middletown, 2 special sons: Timothy and Anthony Shaffstall of Indianapolis, 2 step sons: Gordon Richardson of Anderson and Jimmy Richardson of Alexandria, 8 grandchildren: Dennis (Jodi) Dahl of Puyallup, WA, Denise (David) Baker of North Bend, OR, Derek Dahl of Maple Valley, WA, Deanna (Brian) Smilen of Poulsbo, WA, Denette Dahl of Tukwila, WA, Marcy (Chris) Trennepohl of Custer, WA, Melissa Ritchie of Alexandria, IN and Rudy Schmaltz of Middletown, 16 great grandchildren: Alexis, Tia, Hanna, and Tiffany Dahl, Loren, Meredy and Breelan Smilen, Dayna and Danielle Baker, Joshawa, Jesse, Jynessa, Jynifer, Chyanne Trennepohl, and Stephanie and Randall Callahan.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 South 5th, Middletown, with Rev. Marty Ballard officiating.Burial will follow in Miller Cemetery.Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-8 PM with OES services at 6:30 and Masonic services at 7:00 PM.Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association and the American Cancer Society.Online guestbook at: www.ballardandsons.com
