Anderson...Pastor Robert ""Rob"" C. Williams, 54, resident of Anderson, passed away Saturday at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis following an extended illness.He was born on October 12, 1951 to Elmer G. and Joyce (Cooper) Williams.Rob never met a stranger and everyone who knew him loved him. He was a 1969 graduate of Anderson High School and earned a mechanical engineering degree from Purdue University in 1971. He also received a degree in computer technology from IUPUI. He taught at the local vocational school for many years.Rob worked for the US Postal Service as a clerk/window technician from 1974-1996 and was Postmaster for Orestes from 1997 until 2005.He became an ordained minister on October 22, 2000 but devoted most of his life evangilizing and leading hundreds of people to the Lord.He participated in prison ministries,had been youth pastor for Ovid Community Church, and sewrved as Chaplain for the National Association of Postmasters.One of his greatest joys was being Senior Pastor at Pleasant Valley Community Church near Middletown for the last six years.He lead several missions trips to his beloved Israel. Rob had a great love for the people of Israel and conducted missions trips to the Holy Land.He was a huge sports fan coaching Little League and was Past President of the White River Little League. He coached Optimist basketball and the Wilson Warriors from the Wilson Boys Club and wrote the Wigwam report during the 1980's for AHS. He was also the official frogmeister for the Oaktree festival.Survivors include his wife of 13 years: Cynthia A. (Brewer) of Anderson, 4 children: Jasmine (Mike) Carpenter and Brooke (Derek) Shelton of Anderson, Brian (Yolanda) Wedekind of Lafayette and Chris (Shannon) Wedekind of Anderson, 1 brother: Doug (Vickie) Williams of Clarksville, IN, 7 grandchildren: Camryn, Cade, and Chloe Carpenter, Emma Shelton, Gaven and Ethan Wedekind and Eduardo Butron Wedekind.He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents: Elmer G. and Joyce Williams and Everett and Lula Willaims and Howard and Victoria Cooper and a granddaughter: Kaylee Wedekind.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 am at Pleasant Valley Church, 6994 North 1000W, Middletown with Pastor John K. Summers officiating.Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery in Anderson.Friends may call at Robert Loose Funeral Home and Crematory, 6061 State Road 9 North, Alexandria on Tuesday from 2-8 PM.Memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Valley Community Church.Arrangements were entrusted to Ballard and Sons, Middletown.Online Guestbook at: www.ballardandsons.com
