Middletown, Ind. – Robert Bruce Seward went to be with his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ, Friday, October 14, 2022. He was born in Anderson Indiana on September 10, 1946, to George and Martha (Maly) Seward.
Bruce was a 1964 graduate of Middletown High School and married the love of his life, Peggy Richman on August 14, 1965. He and Peggy owned / operated Precision Alignment for 51 years serving Middletown and surrounding areas. Bruce truly loved hard work and sincerely valued the relationships he built with his customers. Bruce and Peggy were active supporters of Shenandoah High School athletics and held season basketball tickets for 50 years.
Bruce was a devoted Christian and gave all his glory to God. He was a member of The Middletown Church of the Nazarene for 35+ years serving as a Sunday school teacher and board member. Bruce traveled to Mexico on three mission’s trips with the church. Most recently, Bruce became a member of Glad Tiding Church in Muncie where he loved worshiping Christ through song and prayer.
Bruce was passionate about drag racing, competing both as a driver and car owner for family-operated Seward Racing. Over the course of four decades, the team set national speed & elapse time records and captured many local & national event wins. He was most proud of winning the IHRA national championship in 2002 with his son (Brian) behind the wheel.
Bruce enjoyed spending time with life-long friends laughing while traveling to Raider athletic events, playing dominos on game night as well as riding around the countryside on his golf cart checking out the farmer’s crops.
Bruce is survived by his daughter, Sheli (Paul) Marshall of Middletown; son, Brian (Jenny) Seward of Middletown; daughter, Lindsey (Chris) Trausch of Statesville, NC; grandson, Robby (Monica) Seward of Pendleton; grandson, Logan Marshall of Lafayette; sister, Diane (Marc) Bullock of Middletown; sister, Marjorie Seward of Hebron, IN; and grandsons, Corbin Parsley, Dylan Parsley and Cash Cowley.
Bruce was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy (Richman) Seward; his parents, sister, Bette Flanders.
Funeral services will be held at The Middletown Church of the Nazarene on Thursday, October 20, at 1:00pm with Dr. Philip Rogers and Kevin Holt officiating. Burial will follow at Mechanicsburg Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8pm Wednesday and 12-1pm Thursday at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ballard and Sons Funeral Home in Middletown, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shenandoah Athletic Department.
