Robert A. McGill, 86 of Middletown passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2022 at Community Hospital in Anderson. He was born on February 6, 1936, a son to the late Clarence Edward McGill and Sally McGill- Brochu.
Robert taught at the Pendleton Reformatory School for 33 years. He enjoyed learning, loved the Lord and was always involved in church activities from Sunday school to preaching. Robert was never afraid to try new things and was always there for encouragement. He was a part of the hot rod club and enjoyed working on them as well as working at the Anderson speedway.
Robert was a family man. He was a mentor for Sandra’s brothers and sisters. Robert taught his grandchildren to do work to be successful and he fixed their boo boos with painted bugs. Robert never met a stranger; his home was an open-door policy with friends. He housed numerous exchange students and was on the forefront of creating the exchange student program at Shenandoah.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step father, Isadore Brochu; brother, Jackson McGill; sister, Lucille Millen.
Robert is survived by his wife of 65 years, Sandra; 2 daughters, Eugenia (Ron) Taylor, Michelle (Brad) Stahl, a son, Nathan P.I. McGill; grandkids, Jacob Taylor (Haley Gorenflo), Cassandra Stahl, Sabrina McGill (Eric Naselroad), Kelsey McGill (Tim Crisler), Spencer Stahl, Emerald McGill, and Durst McGill; great grandkids, Eian Naselroad, Stephen Naselroad, Liam Naselroad and Robert James Crisler.
Services will be held on Friday, October 21, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home in Middletown, IN with Marty Ballard officiating. Burial will follow at Miller Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, October 20, 2022 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
