Anderson...Robert H. Fridley, 81, resident of Anderson, died Thursday evening at St. Johns Medical Center after a brief illness.He was born in Henry County, April 5, 1923, the son of Lloyd and Janie May Rogers Fridley.He retired from the Zinc Diecast Department at Delco Remy Plant 7. He owned and operated Duraclean Carpet and Furniture Cleaning franchise for many years.He served in the 82nd airborne Division of the US Army during WW 2 and received the Purple Heart for being wounded June 7, 1944 during the invasion of Normandy. He also fought in Italy, Holland, Belgium, and Germany.He was an avid Indiana University Basketball fan, loved the Chicago Bears, and was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals since 1934. He enjoyed cooking. His lasagna was a family favorite.He is survived by his daughter: Andrea (Bob) Bain of Middletown, 1 son: Robert C. (Charlie) Fridley of Anderson, 2 granddaughters: Jacinda (Matthew) Brown, of Las Vegas, NV and Melia (Steve) Craig of Middletown, 1 great granddaughter: Kaitlyn Craig of Middletown, 1 sister: Virginia Sample of Mishawaka, IN, 7 brothers: Joe (Ellie Mae) of Markleville, Louis of Middletown, Verle (Grace), Claude (Ruth), Alvin, Max (Sandy), and Stephen Fridley , all of Anderson, several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter: Heather Lynne Nash in 1970.Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10:00 am at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 South 5th, Middletown with Rev. Charles Conover officiating.Burial will follow in Miller cemetery in Middletown.Friends may call from 5-8 on Sunday at the funeral home.Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the March of Dimes.Online Guestbook is available at:
