Rita Sue Lane

April 27, 1961 — December 28, 2020

The world lost a loving wife and mother, Rita Sue Wallen Lane 59, of Middletown, Indiana, on Monday, December 28th, 2020. She was born to parents Eula A. Wallen and Willie L. Wallen, on 04/27/1961 in New Castle, Indiana.

She graduated from Shenandoah High School and went on to study and become a QMA. After spending many years as a QMA and caring for others in the health field, she decided to take a position as an assembly worker at Valeo Engine and Cooling in Greensburg, IN, until her retirement. She enjoyed telling stories of her days taking care of her dear friend Frank Hein's and her mischievous adventures of her days at Valeo.

She devoted her life to her husband, children, and family. Rita met the love of her life, Charles B. Lane while working in Shelbyville, IN as a QMA and they married in 1995 in Rushville, IN. Together they raised 2 children: Lesley A. Smith (Chris) of Columbus, IN,  James R. Hiday (Mariah) of North Vernon, IN.

She enjoyed Spending time with her five grandchildren: Keegan, Katelyn, Natalie, Lillian, and Xavier, Making crafts for family (Any new baby that was born was bound to receive a special made crochet blanket), Baking her mother's famous german chocolate cake (a family favorite during the holidays), camping, spending time outdoors, and planting flowers and gardening (she could grow the most beautiful flowers around).

Rita is survived by her brother's: Willie (Tot) Wallen of Summerset, KY, Larry (Cheryl) Wallen of Middletown, IN, Keith (Michelle) Wallen of Kokomo, IN, and sister's Betty (Larry) Clapp of New Castle, IN, and Linda (Mike) Wallen of Lapel, IN,

She was preceded in death by Mother Eula A. Wallen, Father Willie Wallen, Brother Kenneth Wallen.

The family has entrusted Ballard & Sons with the arrangements. A Private showing for family is scheduled for January 3, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at Middletown, IN with Services to follow at 3:00 P.M. We will be following all COVID protocols with wearing face mask, social distancing, with a maximum of 50 people during the viewing and services.
