Anderson...Richard Arlen Spangler, 81, resident of Anderson, passed away April 9, 2015 at St. Vincent's Regional Hospital in Anderson.He was born in Anderson, March 11, 1934, the son of Walter and Barbara Comstock Spangler.He was a 1952 graduate of Anderson High School and was a teacher for Anderson Community Schools retiring in 1992.Dick married his wife Pat on August 29, 1954 and together they raised six children.He served in the US Air Force and enjoyed golfing, gardening, reading, and spending time with his family.Survivors are his children: Stephanie (Randy) Painter, Matt (Karen) Spangler, Lora (David) Osborne, Rodney (Meg) Spangler and Kathy (Jim) Cooper, 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild. Also Surviving is a brother-in-law: Dick Gooding and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years: Patricia, a son: Scott Spangler, a sister: Crystal Blanchard and his parents.A Graveside Life Celebration will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 PM at Maplewood Cemetery in Anderson with Rev. Marty Ballard of the Yorktown Church of the Nazarene officiating.There will be no public visitation.Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association, and St. Vincent's Anderson/Stroke Center.Online Guestbook at:
