Daleville...Richard Lee Singer, Jr, 60, longtime area resident, died after a brief illness at Ball Memorial Hospital Saturday morning.He was born in Anderson, Indiana, March 9, 1944, the son of Richard Lee and Elsie Rose Sargent Singer and was a graduate of Madison Heights High School in 1962 and lived in Anderson and Indianapolis before coming to Daleville. He has worked for the past 8 years for the Department of natural Resources at Mounds State Park.H was a US Air Force Veteran and a local Boy Scout Leader for many years. He was active umpiring Daleville Little League games and loved working with kids.Survivors include 1 sister: Nancy Singer of Daleville, 1 brother: David (Rise') Singer of Frostproof, FL, 2 nieces: Amber Singer of Daleville and Karen (Dan) Hughes of Fishers, 1 great niece: Katie Hughes of Fishers, 2 nephews: Jeffery Singer of Dayton, Ohio and 2 great nephews: Jonathan and Nicholas Hughes of Fishers.He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 nephew: Christopher Singer and a sister-in-law: Judith Singer.Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 11:00 am at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 South 5th, Middletown with Rev. Marty Ballard officiating.Burial will follow in Saunders Cemetery in Daleville.Friends may call at the Middletown Chapel on Wednesday from 4-7 PM.Memorials may be made to the Richard Singer Memorial through Mounds State Park.Online Guestbook is available at:
