Pendleton...Richard Duane McCord, 79 resident of Pendleton, passed away Wednesday evening at St. Vincent's Regional Hospital in Anderson.He was born in Middletown, Indiana, September 5, 1936, the son William G. and Susie B Gribbin McCordHe was a 1954 graduate of Middletown High School, served in US Navy for 3 years aboard the USS Hornet and joined the Indiana State Police in 1960 retiring in 1984.He drove a truck several years for V&S Transport and McCord Trucking.He was presented the Sagamore of the Wabash in 1979 by Gov. Otis Bowen, was a 50 year member of the Middletown Masonic Lodge and a member of the American Legion Post #216. He was also a Moose Lodge member and belonged to the NRA.He is survived by his wife Marjorie (Hanson) McCord, a sister Melva McCord Perkins, daughter Carol McCord, stepson John Hanson (Teresa), stepdaughter Lisa Hanson, brother in law Bill Smith (Jackie), sister in law Pam Markham, sister in law Aileen Green, grandchildren, Melissa McCord, Mallory Shavender (Richard), Hannah Labadie (Torrey), Trey Carroll, step grandsons John Hanson and Sean Hanson, great grandchildren, Mya Labadie, Rylan Maier, Finnley Shavender, and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by a sister Lois McCord Mousty and a son Kirk W. McCord.A Celebration of his life will be held on Saturday at 7:00 PM at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 South 5th, Middletown. Cremation will follow.Friends may gather from 4:00 PM until the time of the service.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Indiana State Police Foundation, ATTN: PE 1395 Fund, 1415 Shelby St., Indianapolis, IN 46203, the Middletown Historical Society,or the Autism Society of Indiana, 3951 N.
