Richard David Brown

June 15, 1948 — October 25, 2020

Richard David Brown, age 72, passed away Sunday at his home in Anderson.

He was born in Madison County, June 15, 1948, the son of Richard and Delores Brown. He lived in Henry and Madison County all of his life.

David worked a number of years at General Motors. He was also an LPN for over 40 years; he loved being a nurse. His most endearing quality was his selfless, generous heart. He made it a habit to sacrifice his own needs for the needs of those he cared for, and he always found the best in everyone, despite their flaws. David never hesitated to brag on his children and grandchildren any chance that he got. His favorite activity was to gather with family for a good meal and time together. David was also known for giving everyone he loves a nickname and a "smoochie" kiss goodbye. His hobbies included collecting antiques and playing the organ.

He is survived by four sons, Pete Brown (Chrissy) of Pendleton, Jeff Brown (Darra) of Pendleton, Anthony Bright of Anderson, and Joshua Brees (Christin) of Alexandria; two daughters, Sara Stohler (Spencer) of Anderson, Casey Van Horn (Seth) of Anderson; two sisters, Pam Smith (Larry) of Chesterfield, Patty Watson (Kevin) of Chesterfield. He is also survived by two nieces and two nephews; his eighteen grandchildren, Rachel Brown, Mathew Brown, Kolten Brown, Haley Phillips (Zach), Dylan Brown, Justin Brown, Lachlan Brown, Mary Jewel Stohler, Addison Stohler, Layla Stohler, Greyson Stohler, Lydia Stoher, McKenzie Van Horn, McKenna Van Horn, Lincoln Van Horn, Isaiah Brees, Isaac Brees, and Alyssa Brees.

He is preceded in death by his parents Richard and Delores Brown and brother Steve Brown.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 5 p.m. at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 South 5th Street, Middletown, with Pastor Gregory Gentry officiating. Cremation to follow at a later date.

Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
