Anderson....Raymond Alston Van Cour, II, 66, resident of Anderson and longtime former resident of Middletown, passed away at St. Vincent's Regional Hospital in Anderson December 7, 2015 following a long illness.He was born in Hardwick, VT, October 9, 1949, the son of Raymond and Alice Moyer Van Cour.He was a 1968 graduate of Shenandoah High School and proudly served in the US Navy from 1968-1972 during which time he was a drummer for the Sixth Fleet Navy Band.He played drums for several dance bands in Chicago.He received his accounting degree from Marion Business College and worked as Chief Financial Officer for Wheaton Van Lines, Liebhardt Mills and Dealer Wholesale.He loved watching Shenandoah Sports and building model train layouts.He was a member of Fall Creek Christian Church.He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter: Delaney Grace Vrshek.He is survived by the love of his life: Trudy (Rayburn) Van Cour, of Anderson,to whom he was married 40 years, daughters: Stacy Van Cour and Stephanie (Brian) Vrshek, his sister: Valarie (Chris) Goodwin, six grandchildren: Gavin Vrshek, Kyler Van Cour, Mason Vrshek, Owen Vrshek and Cooper and Jack Smith, several nieces and nephews and extended family Gordon and Terri Smith.A Celebration of Ray's life will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 South 5th, Middletown with Marty Ballard officiating.Burial will follow in Miller Cemetery, Middletown.Friends may call on Friday from 4-8 PM at the funeral home.Memorials may be made to the national Autism Association (nationalautismassociation.org), One Park Ave., Portsmouth, RI, 02871.Online Guestbook at:
