Sulphur Springs, IN....Ralph Dale ""Kiah"" Hovermale, 93, resident of Sulphur Springs, passed away Friday morning at his residence.He was born in Putnam County, Indiana, May 29, 1922, the son of Kiah and Edith Estella Smiley Hovermale.He was a graduate of Russellville High School and a US Navy veteran of WW 2.He served on the USS Birmingham.He worked as a farmer for several years but retired from Farmer's Elevator in Oakville in 1987.He was a charter member of the Sulphur Springs Lions Club for over 50 years and was a member of the Sulphur Springs Jefferson Township Fire Department.He was a recipient of the Purple Heart and the Marine Corps Service Medal.He was a softball coach for his daughters and an avid Shenandoah Band booster.He and his wife Helen, who preceded him in death, would have celebrated 66 years of marriage on the day of his passing.He is survived by two daughters: Sue Ann Hovermale of Sulphur Springs and Judy Lynn Dorrel (Jeffery) of Knightstown, 2 grandchildren: Amber Dorrel of Knightstown and Zachery Dorrel of Rushville, 2 great grandchildren: Ayden Dorrel and Lynnlee Dorrel, several nieces and nephews.Beside his wife he was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother: Robert and 1 sister Edna.A celebration of his life will take place on Wednesday at 11:00 am at Sulphur Springs Christian Church in Sulphur Springs with Pastor C. J. Buskirk officiating.Burial will follow in Miller Cemetery, Middletown.Friends may call at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 South 5th, Middletown from 4-8 on Tuesday and one hour before the services at the church on Wednesday.Online Guestbook at:
