Yorktown...Ralph Harrold Baker, 93, long time resident of Yorktown, passed away Saturday evening at his home after an extended illness.He was born in New Castle, Indiana, March 16, 1921, the son of George B. and Daisy Houck Baker.He was a graduate of New Castle High School.He retired from Warner Gear in 1979 with over 30 years of service. He also worked in the security department for Marsh Warehouses in Yorktown.He had moved to Yorktown in the 1940's and was a 60 year member of the Church of the Nazarene beginning at Muncie First Church and at Yorktown Church of the Nazarene.He had taught for over 50 years in Sunday School and was on the building committee for the present church in Yorktown in the early 1970's.He sang in several quartets and there was never a question of his love for God.He loved to fish and enjoyed his family and extended church family.Survivors are two daughters: Karen Clark Rowls (Joe) of Muncie and Sharon Hawkins (Charles) of Yorktown, 1 son: Keith Dwight Baker (Teresa) of Muncie, 13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren, a son-in-law: William E. Ledbetter.He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife: Helen, daughter: Sheila Geneene Ledbetter, 2 sisters, 4 brothers, and an infant son.A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday at 11:00 am at the Yorktown Church of the Nazarene, 9001 Arch Street, Yorktown, with Pastors Marty Ballard and Brian Couch officiating.Burial will follow at Yorktown Cemetery.Friends may call on Thursday at Ballard & Sons, 8212 South Walnut, Daleville from 4-8.Memorials may be made to the Yorktown Church of the Nazarene.Online Guestbook at:
