On a cold wintery day in December, a beautiful 5 1/2 lb. baby girl, Phyllis Jeanne Burr was born at St. John's Hospital in Anderson to Frederick and Martha Burr. After a difficult delivery, this sweet brown eyed, black haired girl was taken home by her parents to live in Middletown, Indiana. Her Granddad Burr and Great Aunt Nellie Burr lovingly welcomed her. She was the ""apple"" of everyones eye!!She grew up happy in Middletown, a small quiet community, and spent most of her life there. She was quite musical from a young age. She was a gifted pianist-her piano teacher recommending that she further her abilities at Ball State University. She played piano and clarinet for the high school band and choir in Middletown. She loved being a ""Cossack."" She was a girl scout and enjoyed their camp. She was a member of the Rainbow Girls. She was a ""Daddys"" girl, mother's helper and her little sister, Beverly's protector.She was baptized into the Christian Church and attended regularly throughout her childhood. She was currently a member of the Middletown Church of the Nazarene and was active in Women of Faith Sunday School Class, Soup for Missions and Care and Share.She dearly loved her family and friends, and sent many cards and gifts to them regularly. She loved helping those in need with food and money donations. She had a heart of gold and generous spirit. Her yard was full of flowers, as she loved gardening and the attention of the neighborhood children. She collected favorite books and movies and was quick to share them with others.She worked at General Motors at Delco Remy in Anderson, Muncie Battery in Muncie, Delco Remy in Meridian, Mississippi, and New Venture Gear in Muncie where she retired in 2005. She was a highly respected and energetic hard worker.She was the daughter of Ira Frederick Burr and Martha Hon Burr and a decendent of Chauncey H. Burr, first settler of Middletown.She had three children, Kim Louise Burr, Robin Wilson Krathwohl (Ron) and Robert Mundell, II all of Middletown, five grandchildren: Derik Keesling, Adam Keesling, Devin Krathwohl, B. J. Mundell, and Heather Mundell, one step grandaughter: Erika Allen all of Middletown, two great grandchildren: Brandon Keesling and Robert ""Robbie"" Mundell of Middletown.She had two sisters: Tharon Jane Weems (Clyde) of Muncie and Beverly Burr-Abel (David) of Fishers, and a nephew: Zachary Burr Abel of Los Angeles, CA,She passed to be with her heavenly father at 4:10 am on March 25, 2011.A memorial service will be held on Thursday at 6:30 PM at the Middletown Church of the Nazarene, 698 North 5th, Middletown with Dr. Philip C.
