Anderson...Paul E. Black, Sr. 85, resident of Anderson, died June 6, 2004 at St. Johns Medical Center in Anderson after a brief illness.He was born in Peru, Indiana, September 21, 1918, the son of Edward and Rose Wolf Black.He retired from Lynch Corporation in 1981 and Anderson Community Schools in 1988. He also worked at Delco Remy.He was a 1939 graduate of Peru High School and served as a Private in WW 2 in the US Army receiving the Purple Heart.He was a member of the American Legion Post 408 of Chesterfield, North Anderson Senior Citizens Center, and was Vice President of the Golden Age Senior Club. He was a avid euchre player and sports fan.He was preceded in death by his first wife: Vera L. Riley in 1992.Survivors include his wife: Shirley K. Black of Anderson, 3 children: Paul E. (Judy) Black, Jr of Anderson, Janice Ault of Anderson, and Timothy Joe (Becky) Black of Daleville, 3 stepchildren: Sue (Richard) Gross of Daleville, Vicky (James A.) Nixon of Muncie, and David R. (Friend; Glenda Sumpter) Emswiller of Chesterfield, 3 grandchildren: Karen Ann (Tim) Fox of Indianapolis, Adam Black of Daleville, and Jon (Sarah) Black of Daleville, 6 great grandchildren, 1 sister: Ruth Michael of Wabash, IN.Graveside services will be Thursday afternoon at 2:00 PM at Miller Cemetery in Middletown.There will be no visitation hours.Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ballard and Sons Funeral Home in Middletown.Memorials may be made to the Stepping Stones Veterans Organization.Online Guestbook available at:
