Daleville...Orval G. ""Slats"" Wilson, 89, Daleville, passed away Tuesday at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.He was born in Stamping Ground, KY, September 26, 1919, the son of Orval Baker and Mabel Clyre Brombeck Wilson.He retired from Howe Fire Apparatus in Anderson, and worked TB and P Trucking as well as Dawsons Sheet Metal.He was a US Army Air Corp Veteran of WW 2 and recipient of 4 bronze stars.He was a member of the Daleville Masonic Lodge (50 years) serving as Worshipful Master in 1962. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Daleville and the Order of the Eastern Star serving as Worthy Patron in 1987.He served as a Board member of the Saunders Cemetery association since 1985.Survivors include his wife of 50 years: Lillian Frances (Costerison) of Daleville, 3 children: Daniel M (Gloria) Wilson of Huntington, Diana K. (Michael) Martin of Ft. Wayne, IN and Terresa G. (Dana) Smiley of Elwood, IN, 8 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Willard and Harold Wilson and 1 sister: Geneva Gourley.Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:30 at the Daleville United Methodist Church with Pastor Judy Fuller officiating.Burial will follow in Saunders Cemetery.Friends may call on Friday at the Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 8212 South Walnut, Daleville, from 2-4 and 6-9 with Eastern Star services at 6:00 PM and Masonic services at 8:00 PM.
