Ora Eugene Swinford

Daleville.....Ora Eugene "Gene" Swinford, 93, longtime resident of Daleville, passed away on Sunday. He was born in Madison County, Indiana, July 26, 1927 the son of Everett Preston and Jennie Atterberry Swinford.
He attended School in Zena, Indiana and retired from General Motors (Delco Remy) where he had been an electrician for 35 years..
He was a US navy veteran of 93rd battalion of the Seabees.
He was a member of Bethel Church near Yorktown, American Legion, Moose Lodge of Delaware County and was a volunteer at Ball Memorial Hospital for 20 years.
He enjoyed building lamps and cruising. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Dallas Swinford, Everett "Jimmy" Swinford, and Harry Swinford, sisters Faye McKay and Reba Swinford.
Survivors are his children: Linda Ward of Greenfield, Gary Swinford of New Mexico, and Karlene Swinford of Texas, one sister Pauline Gwin (Jack) of Anderson, 2 grandchildren, Heather Ward and Kyle Swinford and a special friend Joanne Poore of Yorktown
Graveside services will be held on Friday at 2:00 PM at Maplewood Cemetery in Anderson
