Anderson...Noonan Gusta Holliman, 92, passed away May 19, 2008 at Community Northview Healthcare in Anderson.He was born July 3, 1915 in Quitman, AK, the son of William Andrew and Martha Leonora Finley Holliman.He farmed in Arkansas for many years and moved his family to Mechanicsburg, Indiana in 1952 near Anderson where he worked and retired from Delco Remy, a division of General Motors.He joined the US Navy during WW 2 and was a crewman on board the battleship USS Tennessee during the bombing of Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. He served from 1940 to 1946.He was a member of the American Legion and the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association.He loved music and spent over 65 years as a Southern Gospel Convention songwriter, writing over 100 songs for at least six different companies. He directed gospel singing and had one song published by Hartford Music Company.He eventually had all his songs published in a single volume and are sung at convention throughout the South.He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife: Theeril Laverne Cranford Holliman in 1992 and nine brothers and sisters.Survivors include: sons: Donald (Melanie) Holliman of Anderson, Dwane Holliman of Austin, TX, and Kenneth Holliman of Middletown, 1 daughter: Linda (Tom) Kraus of Greenville, Ohio, 7 grandchildren: Mark Holliman, Donda Willenburg, Holly McElwee, Amy Lovell, Rachel King, Lindsay Holliman, and Brittany Holliman, 11 great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:00 am at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 South 5th, Middletown with Don Holliman officiaiting.Burial will follow at Mechanicsburg Cemetery.Friends may call on Thursday from 6-8 PM.Online Guestbook at:
