Michael Dennis Poore, 66, passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2024. Born on April 23, 1958, in Middletown, Indiana, Mike—known as "Hopper" to friends in his younger years—walked a complex path through life, filled with both bright and troubled moments. His journey was marked by personal struggles and choices that at times created distance in his relationships.
Mike’s life left a lasting mark on many. Through his ups and downs, may those of us who remain be inspired to reflect on our own choices and the impact we have on each other. Let us carry forward the lessons of family, forgiveness, and the importance of love. The family chooses to honor the moments of connection shared with Mike, and we wish him the peace that may have eluded him in life.
He is survived by many family members: his sons and grandchildren, Zeb Poore with his sons Silas and Sebastian, and Zane Poore with his wife Mariah; two sisters, Faye Buck (husband William Buck) and Nancy Fletcher; nieces Amber Beaman Batzloff, Crystal Beaman, Shenna Fletcher, and Lydia Buck; and several great-nephews.
Mike was preceded in death by his brother, Oscar Poore (1956-1972); his father, Delmar Poore (1920-1999), a WWII Navy veteran from Byrdstown, TN; and his mother, Edna Davis Poore (1926-2019), a true "Rosie the Riveter" from Keno, KY.
Each of us leaves behind an individual legacy, and we honor Mike’s—its highs and lows—and wish him the peace that can only come with rest.
A private gathering will be held to honor Mike’s memory in a way that reflects our hopes for him and for those he leaves behind: peace, forgiveness, and understanding. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Ballard and Sons Funeral Home in Middletown.
