Michael J. Lowery, 76, of Sulphur Springs passed away Friday May 26, 2023 at Ascension St. Vincent in Anderson. He was born on November 11, 1946 in New Castle to the late Robert and Marcella (Rutherford) Lowery.
A Veteran of the United States Army, Mike served his country from 1966 to 1968. A 1965 graduate of Sulphur Springs High School, Mike was a member of the Sulphur Springs Masonic Lodge for 52 years and volunteered for the Sulphur Springs Fire Department for 36 years. Mike also served as Clerk/Treasurer on the Sulphur Springs Town Board for many years. He was a long-time member of the Honey Creek United Methodist Church. Mike owned and operated Lowery’s Service Garage for 55 years. He enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling and wood working.
Mike is survived by his wife of 43 years, Janice Lowery; daughters, Lori (Erich) Delaney, Christa (Terry) Paustenbaugh and Jennifer (Curtis) Thompson; grandchildren, Broc, Brenna, Quinton, Maya and Ella; great grandson, Kyler; step grandchildren, Erikah (John), Kiersten, Austen and Madison; step great grandsons, Henry, Harrison and Maverin; brother, Phillip (Cindy) Lowery; sister, Marsha Gibson; sisters-in-law, Sandy Garland and Kathy Phipps; brother-in-law, Albert Lane; special friends, Gary Van Alst, Mike and Chrisma Brown and Donna Jones along with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mike is preceded in death by brothers, Gerald Lowery and Ronald Lowery; sister, Lisa Lane.
Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday May 31, 2023 at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home in Middletown. Burial will follow at Miller Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. until the time of service.
