Middletown....Michael Melvin Garner, Jr., 45, resident of Middletown, died Thursday at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis, after an extended illness.He was born in Coosbay, Oregon, October 25, 1957, the son of Michael M. and Margarent Garner Sr. of Myrtle Point, Oregon. He was a graduate of Western High School in 1975 in Las Vegas. He had lived in Middletown for six years and was a member of the Middletown United Methodist Church.He was active in the American Diabetes Association and the Kidney Foundation.He and his wife Debi had owned and operated the Middletown Diner in Middletown for a short time.He was working as a corrections officer in Pendleton for the last 2 years.Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife Debi (Speirs) of Middletown, 2 sons: Michael M. Garner III of Traverse Air Force Base, Randy (Fiance: Whitney Hartley) Reed of Anderson, 3 daughters: Colleen (Jason Noble) Garner of Greensburg, Angelina Garner of Greensburg, Krystal (Troy Neal) Garner of Middletown, 2 grandchildren: Michael Wayne Gibbs of Greensburg and Andrew Blake Noble of Greensburg, 2 sisters: Lynn James of Salem, Oregon and Susan (Jamie) Grantham of Myrtle Point, Oregon, several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by 1 brother: Richard Garner in 1993 and 1 sons: Anthony Garner in 1987. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 3:00 PM at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 South 5th, Middletown, IN with Rev. Tim Rassmussen officiating.Cremation will follow.Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00 PM until the time of the services.Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, The American leukemia Association, or the American Kidney Association.Online Guestbook available at: www.ballardandsons.com
