Daleville...Melvin D. ""Bud"" Richman, 86, resident of Daleville, passed away Friday afternoon at Indiana Heart Hospital in Indianapolis.He was born in Daleville, April 16, 1924, the son of Cary L. and Elsie C. Ballinger Richman.He was a 1942 graduate of Daleville High School and Ball State University as well as Long Beach State.He taught school at Daleville for many years and was varsity Baseball and Basketball coach for many years.He was assistant Principal and Athletic Director as well as superintendent of Schools of Daleville Schools.He had also served as Superintendent for Wapahani Schools.He was a member of the American Legion of Daleville, on the Cemetery Board of Saunders Cemetery, was active in the Indiana standard Bred Horse Association, the Indiana State Teachers association and the Indiana State Superintendents Association.He raised and trained pacers since the early 1970's.He was a US Army Air Corp veteran of WW 2 serving in the 7th Air Force, 48th Bombing group of the 41 Squadron in the Pacific Theatre for 3 1/2 years. He recieved the pacific theatre ribbon with four bronze stars.He and his crew piloted the B-25 Mitchell on many bombing runs.Survivors include his wife: Barbara of Daleville, 1 daughter: Peggy (Bruce) Seward of Middletown, 2 sons: Joe Richman of Santa Anna California and Jerry Richman of Anderson, 7 grandchildren,1 sister: Verl (Roy) Caugghran of Greenville, OH, his former wife and mother of his children: Virginia Sims Catron of Middletown, step son: James (Paula Craigo) K. Johnson II and step daughter: Lori Ann Davis both of Alexandria, and his dog: Princess,7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 1 nieces.Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 8212 South Walnut Street, Daleville with Rev. Philip C. Rogers officiating assisted by Rev.
