Mary Katherine Romine

Mary Katherine Romine, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2024, in Middletown, Indiana. Born January 15, 1945, in New Castle, Indiana, she was the beloved daughter of Katherine Parrish Griggs and Harmon Bernard Griggs, and the cherished sister and only girl among five siblings

Mary dedicated her life to her family and community. She was the proud and loving mother of three sons: Ronald Romine (married to Carissa Winter Romine), Charles Romine (married to Roxann Hudson Romine), and Craig Romine (married to Liz Caldbeck Romine). She enriched their lives through her unwavering support and active involvement in their school and personal activities.  A hard-working woman, Mary spent over 30 years in the office at Payless Supermarkets while balancing her roles as a mother and community member. A lifelong fan of country music and an avid Elvis Presley enthusiast, Mary especially loved playing Elvis’s music during the Christmas season. The sounds of his iconic holiday tunes always filled her home, bringing joy and warmth to family gatherings and creating memories that will be cherished forever. She loved being surrounded by people and actively supported many community events over the years. Known for her kindness and generosity, Mary was always willing to lend a helping hand to her extended family and friends. Mary lived by the motto, "Don't worry; everything will work out in the end." This guiding principle inspired her calm, optimistic, and resilient nature, which brought comfort and reassurance to those around her. Mary was deeply devoted to her family.

 She shared over 50 wonderful years of marriage with her husband, Larry Dale Romine. She was a proud grandmother to Brittany Romine (Faron Hudson) and Cody Romine (Joely Dudley) and a doting great-grandmother to Bettie and Natalie Hudson. Those who knew Mary often remarked on her warmth, care, and selflessness. She led a full and busy life, never complaining, always embracing the joys and challenges of each day. Her presence was a light to all who knew her, and her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

Visitation will be held at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home on Friday December 6th 2-4pm , followed by a funeral service at 4pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Mary’s memory to Toy's for Tot's.

Mary Katherine Romine will be remembered for her boundless love, strength, and the lasting legacy she leaves behind.
