Middletown...Mary Ruth Powell, 78, resident of Middletown, died Wednesday morning at St. Vincents Hospital in Indianapolis after a brief illness.She was born in Anderson, August 17, 1926, the daughter of Wilbert and Mary Scott (Goul) Rockwell.She was a receptionist at First United Bank in Middletown where she had worked for over 30 years.She was an Anderson High School graduate (1944) and attended the Middletown Church of the Nazarene. She was a member of the American Legion auxiliary of Middletown.Survivors include 1 daughter: Debbie (Jerry) Chapman of Middletown, 4 grandchildren: Scott (Lisa) VanAlst of Middletown, Amy (Jeff) Hancock of Dawsonville, GA, Pastor Tony Chapman of Hughesville, MO, and LeAnn Chapman of Moore, OK, 12 great grandchildren, 1 brother: Eddie C. (Norma Jean) Rockwell of Anderson, 1 step sister: Phyllis Gibson of Fortville.She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Powell in 1995, her parents, and 1 sister: Helen Collins.Funeral services will be held on Saturday morning at 11:00 am at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 South 5th, Middletown with Pastor Tony Chapman and Rev.
