Middletown....Mary Jane (Wardwell) Hess, 74, resident of Middletown, died Monday, May 19, 2015 at St. Vincent's Regional Hospital in Anderson.She was born in Elwood, the daughter of Harold and Gertrude (Bagley) Wardwell. She was a graduate of Wendell Wilkie High School in Elwood,Mary had worked for the American Lung Association in Anderson, Midwest Towel in Muncie and retired from Hickory Creek of Gaston.She was involved with the Middletown Little League, Shenandoah Babe Ruth, Shenandoah Athletic Boosters and a founding member of the Shenandoah Youth Football League.Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; David R. Hess, sisters; Charlotte Brown, Donna Colbert, Dora Field and brothers; Howard and Robert.Survivors are sons: James and Matthew, sister; Cora (James) Hogan and brother; Charles (Carol) Wardwell.A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday at 2:00 PM at Ballard & Sons, 118 South 5th, Middletown with family and friends officiating.
