Marvin Ray Horton, 77, of Bowling Green, Ky., formerly of Anderson, Shirley and Wilkenson, Ind., passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at Greenwood Cardio-Pulminary Rehabilitation Center, Bowling Green, Ky.Born Aug. 24, 1938, in Haldeman, Ky., he was the son of Darius H. and Della (Puckett) Horton.He married Cynthia Sue Dockrey on May 16, 1964 in Middletown, Ind., and she survives.Horton was a Maintenance/Skilled Trades Supervisor for Delco-Remy Division of General Motors, Inc., in Anderson, retiring in 1996 after 35 years.He was a graduate of Anderson High School; attended GM Apprenticeship School, receiving a Journeyman's Card for pipe-fitter/plumber; Ivy Tech Community College, earning a certification in Supervisory Management; Vincennes University, earning an Associate of Science degree; and American University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree.He was a U.S. Army veteran, three of his four years of service was with the United Nations Peacekeeping Task Force stationed at Kagnew Station in Asmara, Eritrea, Ethiopia, East Africa.Horton portrayed the Anderson High School Indian Mascot his junior year 1955-56 and senior year 1956-57, becoming the only two-time Anderson Indian Mascot in the high school's history.He was a member of the 1955 IHSAA State Cross Country Championship team; Past Master and 32nd Degree Mason, Scottish Rite, Mechanicsburg Lodge F&AM No. 392; Murat Shrine, Indianapolis; Order of the Eastern Star; White Shrine of Jerusalem, Anderson; the Red Man Lodge Great Sachem for the State of Indiana; Sons of the American Revolution; and was awarded the rank of Honorable Order of the Kentucky Colonel.In addition to his wife Cynthia of Bowling Green, Ky., he is survived by one sister, Ruth (Tom) Barricklow of Holton, Ind.; three daughters: Della Lines of Radcliff, Ky., Marla (John) Jones of Mitchell, Ind., Donna (Richard) Cunningham of Bowling Green, Ky.; one son, Marvin D. (Gayle) Horton of West Alexandria, Ohio; nine grandchildren: Shannon Lines of Elizabethtown, Ky., Joseph Lines of Columbus, Ohio, Jared Jones of Nashville, Tenn., Jacob Jones of Mitchell, Abigayle Horton and Andrew Horton of West Alexandria, Ohio, and Alex Cheshier, Rachel Cheshier and Macyn Horton, all of Bowling Green, Ky.; and his 100-year-old beloved aunt, Lucy (Horton) Butler of Pendleton, Ind.He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Jack Horton, Lawrence Horton and Clyde Fultz; one sister, Pauline (Horton) Threet; two nephews: Chuck Threet and Mike Fultz; one niece, Kendra Threet; great nephew Michael Martin; and his beloved uncle, James Monroe ""Roe"" Horton. Funeral services will be on Monday, June 20, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 S. Fifth St., Middletown.
