New Castle.....Martin Cooper Thomas, 72, resident of New Castle (Cadiz) area, passed away Tuesday at his home. He was born in New Castle, January 25, 1942, the son of Raymond and Myrtle Maddy Thomas.He attended Cadiz High School and worked in trucking for many years retiring from Pritchett Backhoe Service in 2011.He lived his entire life in Henry County and was a Charter Volunteer Fireman with Harrison Township Fire Department beginning in 1971. He was a member of the Lions Club and Moose Lodge. He had also been Town Marshall in Cadiz.He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife: Sharon Beavers Thomas.Survivors are fours children: Becky Roberts (Dan) of New Castle, Larry Michael Thomas (Lori) of Losantville, Richard A. Thomas (Cary Swift) and William C. Thomas (Cheryl) both of New Castle, 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.A celebration of Martin's life will be held on Saturday at 2:00 PM at Ballard & Sons, 118 South 5th, Middletown with Josh Shook and Marty Ballard officiating.Burial will follow in Cadiz Friends Cemetery in Cadiz.Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4-8 PM.Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.Online Guestbook at: www.ballardandsons.com and Facebook/Ballard & Sons.
