Margaret Sue Luellen, 71, died peacefully at Miller's Merry Manor in Chesterfield on Friday, October 7, 2022, after an extended illness. Sue was born on February 11, 1951, to Grover and Barbara (Stout) Wood, who preceded her in death. She joined an older brother, Byron (Barney) Wood, who also preceded her in death in 2015. Sue spent her childhood in Middletown, IN, graduating from Shenandoah High School's class of 1969. She had many occupations in her life, but most were in the retail industry. She held many job titles over the years at Hills Department Store, Goody's, and, finally, with Walmart’s remodeling team.
She is survived by three daughters and their families; Darra (Howard) Moore, Middletown, IN, Tiffany (Paul) Helderbrand, Rosco, IL, and Bridgette (Patrick) Dobbs, Alexandria, IN. She has seven grandchildren, Alyssa (Travis) Coffey, New Castle, IN, Jacob Moore, Austin, IN, Chase Helderbrand, Milwaukee, WI, Grace Moore, Middletown, IN, Conner Helderbrand, Rosco, IL, Carter and Sophia Dobbs, Alexandria, IN. She is survived by her ex-husband, Charles Luellen, to whom she was married for 30 years. She would gladly tell you they were better friends apart than together. This became evident in the last 18 months as he helped care for her in her last days. He opened his home to her and took loving care of her until the end. She also leaves behind lifelong friends, Steve and Chris Sheets, and their families.
There will be no public viewing, but the family will be holding a "Bon Voyage Suzy-Q" for her on Saturday, October 15th, 2022 from 2 pm - 4 pm at the home of her oldest daughter, Darra. For information about how you can participate in our celebration of her life please reach out to Sue's family through email, text, or Facebook. In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family requests that you take a friend out to lunch, spend some time laughing, or just be thankful for the life and relationships that you have been given. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ballard and Sons Funeral Home in Middletown, IN.
