Lola Grace (Bittner) Ashton, 89 resident of Middletown went to be with the Lord on November 6, 2021 at her residence after a lengthy illness. She was born in New Castle, Indiana, October 30, 1932, the daughter of Martin and Gladys (Hinshaw) Bittner.
She was a graduate of New Castle (Henry Township) High School and worked several years as a bookkeeper with Katie's Bookkeeping and J and J Farm Service. She was a member of the Middletown United Methodist Church and attended the Middletown Church of the Nazarene.
She was treasurer for the Middletown Library Board and the United Methodist Church. She also was a member of the Home Economics Club of Middletown.
She loved her family and caring for her family's dogs.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles, her parents and siblings: Erma Sutherland, Gene Bittner, Vernice Thompkins, Dickey Bittner, and Don Bittner.
She is survived by her sons and family whom she loved dearly, Doug Ashton (wife Susan) of Fishers, Jon Ashton (wife Kimberly) of Middletown and Mark Ashton (wife Vicki) of Middletown; sister in law Gloria Lee (Forrest) Selvidge of New Castle; grandchildren Alexandra Scott (fiancé Evan Edwards), Justin Scott (wife Mandy) and Bradley Fleischmann and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 South 5th, Middletown with Dr. Philip C. Rogers officiating. Burial will follow at Millers Cemetery.
Friends may call on Thursday from 5-8 PM at the funeral home.
