Middletown....Lawrence Virgil High, 77, resident of Middletown, passed away Friday evening at his residence.He was born in Anderson, September 15, 1936, the son of Mark Festus and Jennie Mae Huffman High.He had worked for Marhoffer Meats for many years but retired from the Utility Department of the Town of Middletown and was employed by Safeway Drive Away Company of Richmond.He was a US Army Veteran and Past Master of Mechanicsburg Lodge #392 where he had been a member for over 50 years.He was a member of the American Legion Post 777, Greenfield York Rite #94, and the Royal Arch Masons #143.Survivors include his wife: Cheri Lee (Collins) of Middletown, whom he married in 1966, children: Terry Dale High, Victoria Pool, both of Middletown, Mary JoAnn McCray of Anderson, Laura Mae Cooper (Timothy) of Centerville, and Pat Hornbaker of Anderson, several grandchildren and great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren, 2 brothers: Kenneth High (Rebecca) of Pendleton and Gary (Nancy) High of Middletown, 1 sister: L. Jackie McClure (Herbert) of Hartford City.He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother: Larry Wayne and 1 son: Billy Neal.Celebration services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 am at Ballard and Sons, 118 South 5th, Middletown with Dr. Philip C.
