Middletown...Larry Allen ""Smack"" McMasters, 62, resident of rural Middletown, passed away Sunday at St. Johns Medical Center in Anderson.He was born in Muncie, Indiana, August 24, 1949, the son of William C. and Jesse J. Bainter McMasters.He attended Sulphur Springs Schools and graduated from Muncie Central High School.He farmed for most of his life, most recently with Chapman Farms. He retired from Borg Warner in Muncie after 30 years of service.He was a member of the UAW #287 and the White River Heritage Tractor Club of Muncie. He restored and showed Oliver tractors as a hobby.Survivors include a daughter: Kim Hurt (Chuck) of Middletown and a son: Kerry McMasters of New Castle, sisters: Donna Applegate (Gene) and Marsha Sloan (Mary Johnson) of Muncie, grandchildren: Shaylee Smith, Chelsea Hurt, Dustin Hurt, and Alex McMasters, 1 great grantchild: Kiyah RaeAnn.He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister: Betty Surber.Funeral services will be Thursday at 2:00 PM at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 South 5th, Middletown.Burial will follow at Springport Cemetery.Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from noon until the time of the services.Online Guestbook at: www.ballardandsons.comMemorials to the family in honor of college fund for the grandchildren.
