Middletown...Larry James Johnson, age 71, resident of Middletown, passed away at his residence after an extended illness.He was born in Middletown, January 8, 1938, the son of Glayne and Mary Alice Forbes Johnson.He was a 1957 graduate of Middletown High School and retired after 36 1/2 years from General Motors and Magnaquench.He was US Marine Veteran stationed at Camp Pendleton and Okinawa, Japan. He held the rank of LCpl E-3 with MOS 0331.He was a member of the American Legion Post #216 of Middletown, Mounds Detachment of the Marine Corp. League and a volunteer with the Patriot Guard.He recieved his marksmanship in Rifle and Sharpshooter in Pistol as well as the Good Conduct Medal in the Marine Corps.He was instrumental in the formation of Gazebo Park and the Middletown Fall FunFest.He is survived by his wife of 43 years: Patricia Rose (Buring) of Middletown, 2 children: Barbara (Joe) Wolfe and Madalyn (Scott) Schulze of Thousand Oaks, CA, Sister: Helen Jeanette (Jack) Childs of Anderson, brothers: Glayne ""Buster"" (Rita) Johnson of Daleville and Richard Johnson of Chico, CA, grandchildren: Cooper and Riley Schulze and Max Wolfe.Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 South 5th, with Rev. Maynard Powell and Sister Shirley Gerth officiating.Burial will follow at Miller Cemtery in Middletown.Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4-8 PM with Marine Honors conducted at 7:00 PM by the Albert E. Shockey detatchment of the Marine Corps League of Kokomo. Friends may also call one hour before the services on Tuesday.Friends are invited to the American Legion post #216 in Middletown immediately following the burial for dinner in honor of Jim.Memorials may be made to the St. Anne Catholic Church Building Fund or the Middletown EMS through the funeral home.Online Guestbook at: www.ballardandsons.com
