Larry Steven Holmes, known to many as Steven, passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at the age of 80. He was born on December 18, 1942 in New Castle, Indiana to the late Glen D. Holmes and Georgia L. (Logan) Emmons and Virgil Emmons (Stepfather).
Steven was a graduate of Middletown High School and went on to study at Ball State University. He later enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country with honor. After his service, Steven pursued a career in modeling and theater, working as an understudy for several Broadway plays and helping to construct sets for productions. He also managed a dance troupe that traveled the world and lived on a houseboat for a time.
Steven was an active member of the Middletown community, serving on the Middletown Historical Society and the Middletown Civic Center Board. He was also involved in the Henry County Democratic Party and served as treasurer for the town of Middletown. Steven even made a run for County Commissioner.
Steven will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his love of art & theatre, his love of travel, and his dedication to his community. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Steven is survived by his son, Dash Adler-Holmes of Middletown; three brothers, Rodney (Linda) Emmons of Union, Missouri, Kevin (Lana) Emmons of New Castle and Mitchell (Sherry) Emmons of Washington, Missouri; three sisters, Patrica Emmons of Middletown, Kathy (Willie) Haskell of Yorktown, and Tamara (Bob) Kuehnle of St. Louis, Missouri; many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Mark Emmons.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 23, 2023 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home in Middletown.
