Middletown..L. R. ""Ray"" (Whitey) Gossett, 77, resident of Middletown, passed away March 22, 2015 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.He was born November 29, 1937, the son of William Sherman and Rosa Sweet Gossett.He retired from General Motors (New Venture Gear) in Muncie in 1991 after 30 years of service.He served in the US Army with the rank of Corporal in Germany.He was a former Mason and Shriner and attended Cadiz Christian Church.He was preceded in death by his parents, a son: L R. Gossett, Jr., brothers: Dean, Dewey, Ralph and Darrell and his best friend: Malcolm Sorrell.Survivors are his wife of 54 years: Edna Joanne (Black) of Middletown, 1 son: William R. Gossett (Tammi) of Sulphur Springs, 2 grandchildren: William Mitchell and Hayley Brooke, 2 brothers: Donald (Helen) and Eddie (Judy), 3 sisters: Clara Jackson, Gladys Looney (Roger) and Betty Norman, several nieces an nephews.Also special friends: Jim and Cindy VanAlst, Tori Faust, Cameron Parker, Angie Elkins and Larry Bronnenberg.A celebration of his life will be held on Friday at 2:00 PM at Ballard & Sons, 118 South 5th, Middletown with Rev.
