Kerry “Dean” Franklin, 72, of Anderson passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at his residence.
He was born on May 6, 1952 in Anderson, a son to the late Harl and Juanita (Songer) Franklin.
Dean was a 1970 graduate of Anderson High School. He worked as a job setter at Guide Lamp in Anderson for 30 years until his retirement. Following retirement, he worked at Morse Lake Marina as night security for 11 years. On August 29, 1975, he married Cindy Clay and together had two boys. They were married for 49 years. Dean had a lifelong love of bowling with his brother Les and many others. He bowled at Rains Eastside Lanes and Coopers. He loved fishing. He was in the Fall Creek Valley Bass Masters in Pendleton, IN. He loved to take his boys and wife fishing.
He is survived by his loving wife, Cindy; his sons, Dean W. Franklin and Ron (Claire) Franklin; granddaughter, Eleanor J. Franklin; sister, Nila (Jim) Harrington of Anderson; his grandpuppy, Tank; nieces, Tari Franklin, Lora (Charlie) Hildreth of Gaston; nephews, Scott (Gena) Starks of Pendleton and Mike (Robin) Starks of Middletown; many great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Ronnie Franklin and Leslie Franklin; sister, Sherry Fields.
The family would like to thank Dr. Mark Lawlor, Dr. Reddy and Staff, Dr. Frisher, Dr. Mares and Brandon Aiman.
Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at the New Horizons United Methodist Church in Anderson, IN with Pastor Bob Case officiating. Burial to follow in Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Madison County Humane Society, 2219 Crystal Street, Anderson, IN 46012 or New Horizons UMC, 611 E. 53rd Street, Anderson, IN 46013. Envelopes will be available at the church.
