Yorktown...God gained another angel into his care on October 9, 2018, as Katherine "Katie" L. Carico, dedicated and caring Nurse and Nurse Anesthetist, passed at her home.
She was born in Anderson, Indiana, March 11, 1929 the daughter of George Henry and Helen Lee Shipley Carico. She was a graduate of Anderson High School (1947)and the Athesthetist school of Ball Memorial Hospital as well as her Registered Nursing degree at St. Johns Hospital and had worked for many years at Ball. She worked at many hospital including Birmingham, AL, several doctors offices and retired from the Muncie Eye Center/
She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Community Church for 45 years..
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister: Martha Jean Baxter, 2 bro-in-laws: Norman Baxter and Robert Miner.
Survivors are her companion and friend for over 50 years: Carol Wilburn of Yorktown, 1 sister: Mary Helen Miner, Kokomo, 5 nieces and nephews: Marti (Ron) Hatcher and Mary (Roger) Lemburg of Houston, Bill Becker of Houston, Kathy (Rande) Smith of Nashville, IN and Dave (Jan) Kellar of Kokomo, 7 great nieces and 13 great great Nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday October 16, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 8212 South Walnut Street Daleville with Pastor Ken Mischler officiating.
Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Daleville.
Friends may call from noon until the time of the services at the funeral home on Tuesday.
Memorials may be made to the Mt. Pleasant Community Church or the Covenant House, Box 96703, Washington, DC, 20090.
