Born December 18th, 1957, in New Castle, Indiana to John A. and Deloris J. (Alspaugh) Peckinpaugh, Jon Hoyt Peckinpaugh ended his earthly 5 year fight with pancreatic cancer on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. Jon was a 1976 graduate of Blue River Valley High School, and 1981 graduate of Ball State University, where he earned a BS in Marketing and was a member of the Delta Chi fraternity.
While at Ball State, Jon met a young co-ed from New Albany, Indiana, Robin Biel, and the two fell in love. Jon and Robin were wed on May 27, 1978, and planted their roots in rural Springport, Indiana. Together they raised and devoted their lives to their four children Robert, Ashley, Philip, and John.
Jon worked, and retired from, Capital Machinery Systems in Pendleton, IN. Jon loved working and had great passion for his craft. In his limited spare time, Jon enjoyed spending time with his five grandchildren, coaching all four of his children in their respective sports, and most recently volunteering with his youngest son, John, as an assistant coach for the Kokomo Wildkats Boys Basketball team, participating with the Kats in 3 sectional titles, a final four appearance, and a state runner-up finish.
Left to cherish his memory and everlasting love are his wife of 46 years, Robin A. (Biel) Peckinpaugh; brother, Rick (Mary) Peckinpaugh; sister, Darlene Arnold; sister-in-law Becky Biel, son, Robert Thomas (Angela); daughter, Ashley Mae (Aaron) Upchurch; son, Philip Hoyt (Melissa); son, John Arthur (Haley); five grandchildren, Avery Arthur Upchurch, Ruthie Gayle Peckinpaugh, Aubrey Ann Upchurch, Hoyt Nolan Peckinpaugh, Jax David Peckinpaugh; and several nieces and nephews.
Jon was preceded in death by his parents John A. and Deloris Peckinpaugh; father and mother-in-law Arthur and Ruthelma Biel; brother-in-law, Robert Biel; sister-in-law, Karin Peckinpaugh; nephew, Michael Biel.
Services will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 11:00 am at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home in Daleville, IN with Pastor Josh Cooper officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024 from 5-8 pm with an hour visitation prior to the service on Saturday.
